About Us
What this site is
Salary to Hourly Converter is a small, independent website offering free tools for anyone who needs to compare pay fairly: employees weighing a salaried offer against hourly work, hourly workers annualising their wage, freelancers setting a rate, and employers sanity-checking a pay band.
The calculators use the standard conversion maths — annual salary ÷ (hours per week × weeks per year) — and handle the two adjustments most converters ignore: paid time off, which raises your effective hourly rate, and unpaid leave, which lowers the gross you actually receive. Our how-to-calculate guide shows every formula openly, because you should never have to trust a black box with your own pay.
Honest about taxes
Our converters show gross (before-tax) pay, and we say so on every result. We do not publish a made-up “after-tax” figure: real take-home pay depends on your filing status, state, W-4 and benefit deductions. Instead, our with-taxes explainer walks through FICA, federal and state taxes in general terms, with clearly labelled illustrations only.
Privacy by design
Both calculators run entirely in your browser. The figures you enter are not sent to our servers, not stored in a database, and not shared with anyone. Your salary is personal, and our tools are built to keep it that way.
How the site is funded
The site is free to use. We may earn a small commission when visitors buy books through Amazon links on our pages, at no extra cost to the buyer. That is the site's only income, and it never influences the calculators' results. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.
What this site is not
We are not accountants, tax advisors or lawyers, and this site is not a payroll service. The calculators provide estimates for general information only. For decisions about your own tax, pay or employment contract, a qualified professional who knows your circumstances is always the final word.
